If you have been following Passive Journal for a while, you know that I have reduced the number of posts that I write on our blog. Why’s that? This is going to be a business update article where I tell you what’s going on with everything in our business, how we are going to move forward and obviously, why am I not posting that much recently.
A lot has been happening behind the scene. Let’s divide this article into different segments. We will talk about the current scenarios first.
So right now, we are operating three ventures under Passive Journal. One is obviously Passive Journal that is our blog and services, one is Teddy SEO where we work with local businesses around the world to improve their SEO and then there is another small wing that we are trying to develop. It is a small digital university for our local audience who are from Bangladesh. I am not providing a URL because our international audience won’t understand the website as that’s in Bengali.
So these are the three ventures that I am spending most of my time for. Passive Journal as a business is stable and it has actually gone passive for the last few months. You know the meaning of going passive? It’s that state when you don’t work that much and the sites and your portfolio still manages a good revenue for you. Passive Journal is in that state now. With our services and our portfolio of websites that we have, it is a true passive business now.
Yes, I actively get involved with customer queries, email responses, employee management and all that even today, but I can easily hire a manager and retire at this point (I won’t do that).
So that’s the current stage of Passive Journal as a business. Also, we have recently introduced our Affiliate Program with a 8% commission rate for all of our services. My team has been debating over time that whether we should introduce a SEO service. We had one at different phases but we were never comfortable dealing with SEO clients (you know what happens, right?). That’s a decision that I will have to take in near future.
So in short, this is why I haven’t been that active lately. I am having some personal nightmares with a few issues. I don’t think I should talk about those here but I will surely update you once things get resolved. Passive Journal has always been a blog where I share everything of my life. So there’s no reason why I won’t share tough times either.
With Teddy SEO, we have grown rapidly in a very short span of time. In case if you are not familiar with Local SEO, you contact potential leads, you ask them whether they need SEO and depending on their answer, you offer them custom services ranging from $1000-$5000 a month.
We have a few clients now all in different states of USA. They all are small businesses (ex: plumbers, wedding planners, photographers and etc.) but we are growing very quickly. We have recently hired one sales-manager from North America to help us grow Teddy SEO. Things are going well. Though I think Teddy’s website is under developed but as most deals happen with cold calling or cold emailing, it never became an issue (at least till now).
Plans For Immediate Future
I can’t reveal too much due to the competitors sneaking in all the time. However, I can tell you that there are a lot that I have planned for immediate future. We will launch Passive Journal Academy in a few months. I haven’t decided whether it will be a monthly thing or a one-time course but you will know when it arrives. Passive Journal Academy will be something that you have never seen before. The academy will have everything starting from Shopify to Amazon Affiliate Marketing Tutorials to Local SEO at one place. That’s one of the major things that I am currently working on.
The second thing that I am working on is building our portfolio. Currently, we only have three sites under our belt. We have sold most of our websites with decent numbers as I wanted to start everything from Scratch once again. Currently we are at a 3 site portfolio position. My plan is to make it a 10 website portfolio within December.
Obviously, these are not just WordPress installs. These are websites that make money for us.
There are a few other plans regarding our services which I can’t share at this moment. Stay connected and you will be the first to know when we change things.
When I started Passive Journal in June, 2016, I didn’t know what I was doing. I only wanted to document my journey and that desire is still there. Blogging is more or less dead but I still enjoy writing, I don’t know whether you guys enjoy reading as much as I love writing these articles for you. I think I will continue to write for a few more years unless anything extreme happens.
Also, at this point of the business, I am thinking strongly whether I should go for an office or not. The business became too big to maintain from home. But the problem is that my employees enjoy working from their home and I do not want to take that away from them. Also, they are from different parts of the world which makes it even more difficult. However, I still think that an office would bring more productivity for me.
Yeah, that’s pretty much all I wanted to update you guys about. What’s your situation? What are you dealing with and what’s the plan for immediate future? Let me know in the comments. I would love to know your thoughts.
